Inclusion Unit Deployment Team

Join the Disability Inclusion Unit Deployment Team and help make community events more inclusive and accessible for people with disabilities! As part of this trained volunteer team, you’ll play a vital role in deploying and maintaining the disABILITYsa Disability Inclusion Units at events throughout the San Antonio area.

Why Volunteer: You’ll gain valuable hands-on experience in community inclusion, event operations, and accessibility advocacy—plus the rewarding satisfaction of helping make San Antonio events accessible to everyone!

Volunteers help prepare, set up, staff, and maintain specialized accessibility stations that enhance the experience for individuals with disabilities. These stations include:

• Mobile & Portable Changing Units – providing dignified personal care access

• Mobile & Portable Sensory Rooms – offering a calming and regulated environment

• Sensory Kit Check-Out Stations – with tools and aides to support sensory regulation

• Adaptive Art Stations – promoting inclusive and creative expression

• Disability-Friendly First Aid Stations – offering accessible first aid support

• Accessible Stages & Event Elements – ensuring participation for all

Volunteer Responsibilities

• Assist with loading, delivery, and setup of units at event sites

• Greet guests and help them navigate inclusion station features

• Monitor and maintain the cleanliness, safety, and accessibility of units

• Support tear-down and repacking at the conclusion of the event

• Serve as an ambassador for disability inclusion in the community

Requirements

• Must complete training before first shift (training provided by disABILITYsa)

• Comfortable working outdoors and handling light physical tasks

• Dependable, friendly, and committed to creating inclusive experiences

• Ages 16+ (under 18 must volunteer with an adult)

• Clear Criminal Background Check
