Friends of West Austin Park

About

West Austin Park is an neighborhood Adopt-a-Park with APF located between 9th and 10th Streets in the Old West Austin Neighborhood Association(OWANA).
Each Spring and Fall on the first Saturdays of March and November we participate in It's My Park Day by mulching trees, planting our gardens, both vegetable and flower, maintain our path system and accomplish general maintenance such as painting our picnic tables etc.
We also have long range projects we are working on that are contained in our City Council adopted Master Plan of 2013 http://www.westaustinpark.org/ such as
1) designing and constructing an accessible amphitheater for Movies in the Park, concerts and other social gatherings,
2) an accessible shaded nature trail both for connectivity through the Park between 9th, 9th 1/2, and 10th Streets as well as to the heavily used off-leash Adopt-a-Park West Austin Dog Park https://www.facebook.com/West-Austin-Dog-Park-260202194110461/
3) improving drainage, storm water surge and filtration of rain water as West Austin Park sits in a bowl that collects drainage from the West Austin Park Watershed that extends up north past Enfield, then sends it into a 3' pipe running south beyond the railroad tracks where it becomes a gulch down to Ladybird Lake.
